The International Krav Maga Summer camp 2017 in Norway is an annual international event hosted by Krav Maga Global Norway. It gives practitioners a chance to come and train intensively for 6 days with both new and old students. The annual international Summer camp is held in Bodoe, at the National Training Centre in Norway. In Bodoe the days are extremely long during the summer so our training days will be the same. You will receive 6 months of training crammed into 6 intensive days, starting in the morning and finishing at around 5 PM (17:00). You will get one day of a bit of rest, and lots of training. However, trust us when we saythat you will have loads of fun and meet new friends you will surely meet on other Krav Maga Global events around the world. The previous years have seen participants and instructors from many different countries, ranging from Sweden to the Netherlands, United States, Scotland, England, and Poland. The International Krav Maga Summer Camp 2017 in Norway is open for participants from all Krav Maga organizations and new Krav Maga trainees. Don’t worry, the camp is hosted by English-speaking instructors with years of experience in their field of expertise!
This year’s instructors in-charge of the event are Rune Lind (expert level 4 and director of KMG-Norway) and Ole Boe (expert level 3 and professor in psychology and stress reactions). There will also be many more instructors and assistant instructors participating, tune in for more information as we create the Schedule.
Material covered this year will be both basics and more advanced training including reality training outdoors. The summer camp is open for beginners as well as students and instructors. For instructors and high-level students, there will be an emphasis on fighting. You need to bring equipment for this. In the end of the camp, there will be a possibility for level testing. During the camp, we will try to combine some of the training sections with some summery social activities outside. The course is very intense and packed with training. You will learn a lot. One of the major themes this year is understanding and building upon your natural reaction to stress through knowledge and drills. We have expert Ole Boe to host this subjects, and his lectures are worth the trip alone. Very few people in Europe have done the level of research that Ole has.
What do you need to participate? Not much. You don`t need to have a background in Krav Maga or other martial arts. We will cover the system from the basics for those not familiar with it. As far as equipment needed we recommend the following:
For our out of town friends, there is a possibility to stay at the training center for free. You need your own sleeping bag, perhaps a pillow, and there is a kitchen where you can make food. The center is located close to the city and you will find stores and shopping malls close by. If you would prefer to stay in a hotel there is an affordable solution very close to the training center.
The last couple of years we have had a large amount of people staying at the training center, students as well as instructors. It has proven to be very affordable, social and fun, although with this many people there are challenges with only 2 showers and a small kitchen. Just be prepared to live a little rough for a few days. It’s free after all.. 🙂
New this year is that we allow deposits to reduce the financial burden for those who would like to register now instead of waiting. The full amount has to be paid by the first day of the camp!
The price for the summer camp includes training, transportation to outdoor locations (if needed), entry to other venues, etc. As always we give members of KMG a small discount as it should pay to be a member.
Additionally, we have early bird prices before March 1st, so sign up early. You will find prices in the ticket area further down.
PS! Refunds:
50% refund before 01. May.
No refund after 01. May since planning has started and costs have incurred.
Training starts around 6 PM (18.00) the first day. The nearest airport is Bodoe Airport (BOO), only 10 minutes walking distance away from the center. You can choose between two different airlines; SAS-Braathens and Norwegian. It is also possible to come by train or bus. For more information contact Rune Lind at rune.lind@kravmaga.no
